Dr. Helland graduated from Northwestern College of Chiropractic in Bloomington, MN, in 2002. He attended numerous Gonstead technique seminars during college and was fortunate enough to study under and work alongside Dr. John Thatcher, direct student of Dr. Clarence Gonstead, and became a certificate holder of the Gonstead Advanced Technique, issued by Dr. Gonstead to only a select few chiropractors in the world.
While he was in chiropractic college he experienced an amazing health benefit through Gonstead care. He had suffered from exercise induced asthma and had trouble running more than 10 minutes without experiencing an asthma attack. Dr. Thatcher found a subluxation at his T2 vertebra and began specific adjustments. Soon, Dr. Helland was able to run 20 minutes, 30 minutes, and soon had no asthma attacks when running! It was a huge eye opener that not all chiropractors had the same results with their patients, and he made it his mission to pursue the art, philosophy and science of Gonstead Chiropractic. He is always learning and striving to improve, and he feels that every patient is unique, and therefore the care should be specific to them as well.
Dr. Wood and Dr. Helland opened Powers Chiropractic in the fall of 2004.
Dr. Helland has enjoyed taking care of the health of his patients from infants to 65+ age patients. Dr. Helland also holds a Veterans Association contract and has had the privilege of getting to know the veteran population in Colorado Springs while improving the quality of their lives through specific Gonstead Chiropractic care.
He also incorporates prenatal care within his practice. Having four children of his own, he feels very comfortable adjusting patients of all stages in their pregnancies and applies breech protocols for patients to support their baby's correct positioning.
Dr. Helland values work-family balance and when not in his office he can usually be found at the local soccer field or ice rink. All four of his children play hockey and two play soccer. He also enjoys to fish and hike, and you may see him at Top Golf from time to time.
He has benefited from the results of Gonstead Chiropractic care since the age of ten, when he started the sport of Taekwondo and eventually achieved the rank of 3rd degree black belt.
Dr. Jason Deal graduated from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa in 2012. He brings many years of experience in the Gonstead system in helping Colorado Springs and surrounding areas achieve optimal health through specific Chiropractic care. Dr. Deal is always striving to improve in his knowledge and expertise in the Gonstead system, and has attended close to 30 Gonstead seminars.
His passion for Chiropractic started at the age of 17 when over the course of 6 months, many random symptoms started appearing out of nowhere. From loss of energy, random pains in his stomach, numbness and tingling in his arms and legs and constant headaches, Dr. Deal went to various Doctors and specialists with the same conclusion that “nothing was wrong”. Dr. Deal didn’t give up on his health, and eventually went to a Chiropractor who explained to him about the Nervous System and how Chiropractic works to allow optimal function of the Nervous System by focusing on the structure of the spine. Throughout a series of adjustments, Dr. Deal regained his
health and knew his calling was the help others achieve the same level of health that he now discovered.
Dr. Deal enjoys staying active, and you’ll often find him on one of Colorado’s many hiking trails, biking, or in the gym. Dr. Deal has a passion for helping others live life optimally. He is also an avid sports fan, and enjoy attending Denver Nuggets basketball games.
