Chiropractic was discovered on September 18, 1895 , by David D. Palmer in DavenportIowa. The first chiropractic patient was a janitor in his office building who had become deaf following an injury to his neck and upper back. He described having a pop in his spine and gradually went deaf thereafter.  Dr. Palmer started adjusting and soon the man was hearing again.  It’s not a symptom one would think to be the first in chiropractic history!  Neck or back pain are more commonly expected symptoms treated by chiropractors, but patients with colic, earaches, acid reflux, heart arrhythmia, and many other symptoms are also frequently seen in a Doctor of Chiropractic’s office.

Chiropractic is based on a very simple health concept called “The Safety Pin Cycle”. First, the brain and nervous system control nearly every activity in the body from muscle and joint mobility to stomach acid production.  Secondly, if a nerve is pinched that leads to the body’s various muscles, glands, and organs it will interfere with the normal function of that organ or muscle, and thirdly, specific chiropractic adjustments relieve the nerve interference or pinch and allows the muscle, joint, organ, or gland to function normally again. This is why neck and back pain, arm and leg pain, numbness, headaches and many other conditions respond to chiropractic care.

Our specific form of chiropractic technique is gentle and scientifically based. We evaluate your spine through an exam and x-ray, sit with you to discuss our findings, review your tests together, and if we can help we will recommend treatment. There is no pressure to come in for the rest of your life. If you want to stop care as soon as your pain goes away, THAT’S OK! We’ll be here when it returns.

Chiropractic has been around for 113 years. If it wasn’t a safe and effective form of natural health care, it would have vanished long ago. However, almost every MEDICAL procedure, injection, surgery, or medicine have a MUCH HIGHER percentage of adverse reactions including drug reactions, stroke, liver damage, or death than any chiropractic adjustment. There’s simply nothing to fear from proper chiropractic care. If you have a question or concern prior to starting care, go to our blog site and get a response from one of the doctors, don’t let hearsay keep you from getting better.
